The restoration of the Overland carriage Onkaparinga is nearly complete, the carpet has been laid and three quarters of the carriage has been painted and lettered. We were very pleased to find a carpet that matched very closely to one of the styles originally used in the Overland carriages, as seen in the image of Onkaparinga’s sister carriage Inman.
The Museum will be launching Onkaparinga on Saturday the 13th of April, during the Overland Weekend event. This weekend is one of the events put on this year as part of the Museum’s 50th anniversary. During this event an Overland consist will be running and visitors will be able to ride aboard Onkaparinga.
Once Onkaparinga is fully restored she will be able to viewed inside the main pavilion and will be open to the public on special occasions.
