The annual Thomas the Tank Engine event 'Day out with Thomas' is about to begin at the National Railway Museum. Museum staff and volunteers are furiously preparing for the event, which begins this Saturday the 7th of July. Operations Manager Richard Crookall, NRM steam shed and driving volunteers have been undertaking maintenance on the Museum's steam engine 'Peronne' and smaller engines Bill and Bub. Richard is pictured working on engine Bill, with one of the Museum's youngest drivers Dale Patyi. Bill was built by Willis Engineering in WA, Bub was built at the Museum by Richard and Museum volunteers.
Teams have been shunting some of the Museum's carriages and locomotives to make room for marquees, signage and stands. NRM volunteers David Peters, David Bryker and Phil Hart are pictured setting up the information tent and signage.
The 'Day out with Thomas' event will run from the 7th to the 15th of July, more information is available from the NRM website.
