Guest speaker Richard Potter, freelance journalist, writer, broadcaster, actor and director, will talk at the first meeting of the year about his time in Germany, before and after the Fall of the Wall. He spent the majority of the years from 1985 to 1995 in West Germany and then reunited Germany, first in Hamburg and later in Berlin. As a journalist he made reports for ABC radio. He has written a yet to be published novel 'Postcards from the Past', set in Berlin immediately after the fall of the Wall and is on record as having predicted the fall of the Wall in a report on ABC radio in September 1989.
"It fascinated me at the time when I was living in Berlin that it was in the 'front line', the Wall made one edge of the world, and that here in Australia we live at the far edge of the world. There seemed much to compare and contrast".
Car parking at the university is available after 4.30 pm on weekdays for a flat fee of $5. You must have coins to put in the meters.
