Pioneers Association of South Australia

Established in 1935, the Pioneers Association seeks primarily to preserve the memory of those pioneers who arrived in South Australia during the first ten years of colonisation. The Association maintains a library and archive at its premises in Leigh Street, Adelaide, which the public is invited to access.

Port Augusta Cultural Centre - Yarta Purtli

The Port Augusta Cultural Centre - Yarta Purtli, is a newly developed arts and cultural hub in the central business district of Port Augusta. The Cultural Centre supports and encourages community and individual participation in all facets of the arts and culture. "Yarta Purtli" is a Nukunu word meaning Place of the Stars. Port Lincoln Railway Museum

Containing the stories of over 30 ships wrecked along Port MacDonnell’s rugged coastline including the Admella, Australia’s worst shipping disaster, the museum reveals how this historic trading port became Australia’s Southern Rock Lobster Capital. Port Pirie National Trust Museum

Telling the stories of Port Pirie’s people and its industries including smeltering, railway and shipping history, displayed in a number of fine late 19th and early 20th century heritage buildings: the Old Customs House, the old Railway Station and the former Central Police Station.

Located within the Port Pirie RSL Club complex, the museum tells the stories of Australians in all wars and armed conflects, from the Boer War to modern day Afghanistan and Iraq, focusing in particular on the contribution made by local Port Pirie service personnel and the sacrifices they made in the service of their Nation.

Established to focus on the preservation and conservation of the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of South Australia's records held at the Adelaide Showground. There is a range of archival information on site relating to the history of the RA&HS of SA Inc, Royal Adelaide Show and Royal Adelaide Wine Show. This material is available for research purposes on an appointment basis.

Royal Caledonian Society of South Australia

South Australia’s premier Caledonian Society was formed in 1881 and is home of the reputably longest continuing civilian Pipe Band in the Southern Hemisphere. The Society is a family-oriented group that embraces that promotes all elements of Scottish culture and heritage such as Pipes & Drums, both Highland and Country Dancing, Scottish Music and Cuisine.

Saddleworth & District Historical Society Museum

Located in the old Siekmann and Moule wheat store built in 1859, the oldest building still standing in Saddleworth and once the largest store north of Gawler, the museum houses the history of the small country town of Saddleworth and the nearby townships of Waterloo, Marrabel and Manoora, and is run by volunteers of the Saddleworth & Districts Historical Society.

Complex consists of an 1870s stone cottage, and original wheelwright and blacksmith shops telling the story of two generations of the Scholz family. They lived and ran their pioneering business here, meeting the needs of Riverton and surrounding area for over a century from 1865-1966.

Scouts Australia, SA Branch Scout Archives

Discover the history of Scouting in South Australia from 1909 to present day and in Northern Territory from c1920, including uniforms, badges, documents, housed in one of the Municipal Tramways Trust's converter stations when electric trams first ran from the city to the beach in 1909.

South Australian Aviation Museum

The Museum is a thriving place for the aviation enthusiast and historian. Visitors have a great variety of aircraft, engines, propellors, historic displays and memorabilia on show. The workshop is usually busy with one or more restoration projects. Museum members are available for guided tours or to answer questions.

South Australian Boer War Association Inc (SABWA) was established to honour and preserve the memory of the men and women who served in the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902 in South Africa.  Membership is open not only to descendants of servicemen but also to anyone interested in Australia’s forgotten war.
