The annual Heritage Heroes awards were established by the South Australian Heritage Council to recognise the efforts of groups and individuals who have made a significant contribution to recognising, celebrating and conserving heritage.
This year two registered museums have been recognised through the efforts of their volunteers.
Friends of Loxton Historical Village took the top honour in the group award in recognition of their work maintaining the extensive village site. Several volunteers from the Friends came to Adelaide for the award ceremony and it was great to catch up with them.
Marcia Lorenz received a Minister’s Commendation in the individual category. As she wasn’t able to be at the ceremony, her award was presented a little later at Beachport. Read the full story here.
