SA Community History Website Launched

We are finally online!  Around 200 invited guests including several CMP members gathered in the Drill Hall at the Torrens Parade Ground on Tuesday 3 May to witness the launching of both our new SA Community History website and the About Time History Festival.  The official proceedings were led by History SA’s CEO Margaret Anderson and Board chairman Phil Broderick, culminating in a speech by the Hon John Hill MP, Minister assisting the Premier in the Arts.  It was a great opportunity to be able to show off the website and demonstrate all its capabilities on the big screen to a captive audience.

There are still a few issues regarding some aspects of the website’s functionalities but we are steadily working through these.  Along with online videos, fact sheets and the Community Museums Program handbook and grant application information, so far there are around 70 profiles of South Australian community museums and related history organisations in the directory, including over half of the 61 registered or accredited museums within our program.  There is more training for CMP members to learn how to upload and manage their profiles scheduled in Adelaide in July  and we are looking to arrange further training for those in the regions later in the year.
