Beyond the Gold Mountain

The Chinese Community Council of Australia are seeking expressions of interest to present at a Melbourne conference next year exploring the role of Chinese people in Australian history.  The Beyond the Gold Mountain conference is one of several events being organised to coincide with the 160th anniversary of the first walks by Chinese who landed directly from China at Robe in South Australia en route to the Victorian goldrush.

Caring for your family treasures

The Mount Gambier History Group in collaboration with History SA and Artlab Australia have created a special free conservation clinic on Tuesday 31 May at Mount Gambier City Hall. Part of South Australia's History Festival, it will offer expert advice to those in South Australia's southeast, about caring for your family treasures.

New book on Solomon family

A new book about the Jewish South Australian pioneer Emanuel Solomon and his descendants is to be launched in Melbourne on Sunday 3 April.  Entitled Meet our Ancestors - Solomon and Associated Families: Volume 1, it was written by his great-great-granddaughter solicitor Jenny Cowan.
