All aboard the Steampunk Festival, now in its third year at the National Railway Museum. A mixture of antique dress-up, fascinating displays and exhibitions, weird science, theatre, smoke machines, live music, best dressed prizes, trade stalls and plenty of photographic opportunities. Steam trains Bub (free) & Peronne ($3) running both days. Open Saturday until 9pm.
Free entry for all Dads when accompanied by a paying Adult. Take your Dad out to the National Train Day. Everyone gets free train rides behind Bub, the museum's little blue steam train. The big black steam train Peronne will also be running - just $3 for adults.
Go behind the walls of the notorious Z Ward at the former Glenside Mental Hospital. For almost 90 years it was home to those classified as 'criminally insane' on the overlapping edges of criminality and mental illness. This guided tour explores the architecture and social history of this remarkable building.
